Four-year-old Colate was orphaned last year when her mother died after an illness and surgery. Like many other children, her father has never been in her life and is gone. Colate was placed with an Auntie, it’s unclear if this was a relative or simply a woman willing to take her. Ultimately, Colate was left alone without food or an adult to care for her often overnight. Colate has been at Chayah since March 2023, she is thriving and enjoying the safety and love of family.
